Quartix sets the pace for Wales and the West with National Business Awards win

13th July 2007

national business award

Quartix Ltd, the highly-respected Newtown-based vehicle tracking specialist has been named winner of the finals of the National Business Awards, 2007 ‘AXA Small to Medium size Business of the Year Award’ - Wales and West Regional Programme and will now go forward to the finals of the national competition, to be held at the Grosvenor Hotel, London on November 13th.

Sponsored by Orange, the prestigious award-scheme is the leading, all-encompassing, business awards programme in the UK; designed to recognise business excellence, with particular emphasis placed on on-going innovation and ethical growth, underpinned by strong financial performance. The SME category is open to any organisation recording turnover of up to £10 million in the past financial year, with entries received from all business sectors.

Established in 2001, Quartix has consistently recorded outstanding levels of annual growth in a sector which is both dynamic and competitive; the company has seen sales of its highly-integrated, matchbox-sized tracking units more than double in the first quarter of this year.

The one-stop, internet-based vehicle tracking system receives excellent industry reviews and is used by over 1,500 UK companies, in more than 12,000 commercial vehicles to transform fleet efficiency, improve business capacity and customer service, enhance vehicle security and assist with meeting duty of care requirements. The award-winning tracking solution allows 24/7 real-time positioning of the mobile workforce from any online PC, via secure, map-screen web-page. The impressive ‘live-on-the-web’ tracking facility is complemented by online vehicle activity logs detailing both up-to-the-minute and historical data in user-friendly format. Subscribers also benefit from the system’s extensive email reporting suite.

The firm, which currently employs 15 full-time staff, recently received a visit to its modern Newtown office from Welsh Liberal Democrat leader Lembit Opik, recently-appointed Minister for Business, Innovation and Regulatory Reform, who, on hearing of the win, stated, “ Quartix always looked like a winner to me and it looks as if the experts shared the same view – the winning of this award reinforces the fact that a good product, strong vision and a great team are the vital components of business success.” “The National Business Awards, 2007 ‘AXA Small to Medium-size Business of the Year Award’ for the Wales and West Region, is testimony to Quartix’ promising future; the company represents a shining example of superb performance by an outstanding team that I’m proud to have in my constituency.”

Commenting on the win, Quartix’ Sales and Marketing Director, Andy Kirk (pictured centre with judge Lou Macari of AXA and Victoria Derbyshire of Radio 5 Live) said, “The AXA Small to Medium-sized Business of the Year Award has to be one of the most prestigious of all the business awards. As one of the leading companies in our sector, we were pleased to submit the company to the rigour of the judging process and found it of great benefit to be benchmarked with companies from across other sectors. Winning this coveted award reinforces the skill, professionalism and commitment of our team; we are thrilled to be competing alongside the best companies in the UK at the National Finals in November.”
