Quartix – the prescription tracking solution.

Staff at Global Wholesale Supplies Ltd, of Windsor, were today celebrating the safe recovery of a Mercedes Sprinter van, one of their fleet of four - which had been stolen, only to be recovered within an hour due to Quartix real-time, GPRS vehicle tracking technology, which the company had installed twelve months ago.

The incident occurred in Slough, around 3.30pm on Friday 20th February. Having left the vehicle unattended for a matter of minutes with the ignition running, to make a delivery, the driver emerged to find his van moving off - with its valuable cargo of prescription drugs still on board.

Kirit Tanna, Managing Director, wasted no time in alerting the authorities as soon as his driver informed him of the situation. 3-way liaison between Tanna’s office, Slough police and Quartix headquarters in Wales ensued, as the stolen vehicle’s progress was closely monitored.

‘‘Five or six squad cars were involved in apprehending the would-be thieves, who had already transferred the goods to another van, ready for a quick getaway, when the net closed in on them – just ten miles from where the van was stolen,’’ reports Kirit.

‘‘It’s the first time in 15 years that the company has been affected by anything like this; we installed a tracking service because it saves us £200 p.a. on the fleet insurance premium and encourages drivers to stay on track. It’s a good job we had Quartix GPRS tracking system, or things could have been a lot worse – the technology really pays for itself over and over again,’’ he states emphatically.
