NPT Homes improve efficiency and service delivery with Quartix

Based in Baglan, Neath, NPT Homes is a not-for-profit social housing association with over 9000 properties spread throughout Neath Port Talbot (South Wales) County Borough. Regulated by the Welsh government and a registered social landlord (RSL), NPT Homes has a ‘charitable’ status and focuses primarily on raising council housing standards.

NPT Homes relies on a fleet of over 130 vehicles to carry out property maintenance work to tenants’ homes throughout the Neath Port Talbot County Borough area. Running repairs 24 hours a day, having access to their fleet’s accumulative driving data has proven invaluable for maintaining a consistent and reliable service for the families they support.

Mair Jones, Plant & Transport Liaison Officer at NPT Homes, describes the benefits they’ve seen since implementing the Quartix system: “It enables us to determine both good and bad driving performances across our fleet, as well as accurately review allegations of speeding. This means we can more easily determine who needs to improve their day-to-day driving by comparing their rates of acceleration and braking against other employees.” This is possible because of the system’s score-based league tables, which aggregate individual driver performance on a 100-point scale. Careful examination of these tables is key to developing driver ability and gradually reducing everyday fuel usage and improving on-road safety.

Moreover, having this level of data to hand in a concise and accessible format has diminished the amount of managerial work needed for their operations team. This is especially beneficial when responding to urgent maintenance requests, which are crucial for the association to stay on top of. “With the live tracking view, we can quickly identify which of our employees is nearest to a service request or emergency situation,” Mair Jones continues. “This is a big advantage for us. Without the system installed, we couldn’t respond to more pressing matters as promptly as we now can. It has taken a great weight off our shoulders by allowing us to increase our efficiency at all points in the day.”
