Driver ID

Track individual driver profiles

Quartix Driver ID allows you to keep track of individual driver profiles when vehicles are not permanently assigned to a single employee.

There are several benefits of using Driver ID:

  • Timesheets and working hours for each driver
  • Trip reports available for each driver and vehicle
  • Driving style analysis regardless of which vehicle was used
  • Data is recorded for individual drivers as well as vehicles
  • Ensure the right driver is on duty
  • Determine private versus business mileage

“Our drivers know that the managers receive their driving reports every week. We focus on drivers who have been flagged as ‘red’ in the driver behaviour reports and we match this with vehicle maintenance analysis, looking at excessive tyre and brake wear. It’s been a really effective way of encouraging them to drive better and safer.”

Bob Stokes, Managing Director, South Staffordshire Plc

Private versus Business Mileage

In addition, Driver ID allows you to differentiate between business and personal mileage. If, for example, you allow trusted employees to use the vehicle at the weekend or evening for personal use, you may not want to include this as “business” mileage.

How does Driver ID work?

Our standard driver ID option uses a small Dallas key fob reader affixed to the dashboard. Each driver is given their own Dallas key fob which, when placed on the magnetic reader, registers the driver in that vehicle, and records all trip-specific data for the individual driver.

The driver ID solution includes a buzzer option to alert the driver if there is no key fob found at ignition on. The buzzer will continue to sound, while the ignition is on, until a key fob is placed on the reader. In most use cases, a driver will leave their key fob on the reader for the entire shift. The key fob is firmly retained by the magnetic reader. If you need to move vehicles on site, it may be useful to order additional key fobs.

Once the driver ID information is registered, the drivers name will appear on your driver reports and also appear on the live tracking map. The Quartix vehicle tracking configuration menu allows you to edit driver details and assign each driver to user-defined groups.

Your own company RFID ID cards/tags can also be incorporated into a Driver ID option. RFID cards are typically used for building access and ‘clocking’ on/off work shifts. Our solution uses an RFID reader to scan the unique serial number from your existing company RFID card and reports this in the same way as the Dallas keys. Please discuss your RFID data requirements with our sales or support teams.
